contemplating intent, consent, kill lists and ceasefire: deer hunting season, regular firearm, November 15 – 30, 2024 Michigan, U.S.

“The assumption that animals are without rights and the illusion that our treatment of them has no moral significance is a positively outrageous example of Western crudity and barbarity. Universal compassion is the only guarantee of morality.”

Arthur Schopenhauer.

Regular firearm, deer hunting season began yesterday in Michigan, United States of America, and the crack of rifles and the blast of shotguns destroy both peace and life.

There is some version of a legalized, defined kill list or belated, legalized “protection list” for nearly every non-human animal being population on Earth. And, for human animal being populations on Earth too.

What defines murder for human beings, of the human animal body?

INTENT.

All Hunting is INTENT – intent to kill.

All animal “livestock” agriculture is INTENT — intent to kill for profit.

Genocide is INTENT.

And what defines CONSENT for humans, for the human animal body and mind?

Agency, bodily autonomy and sovereignty— the ability to consciously give permission, to safely revoke permission or decline permission without force, duress or manipulation.

Hunting VIOLATES CONSENT.

All animal agriculture VIOLATES CONSENT.

The dominion and slaughter of the non-human animal realm, the non-human Earthling realm evolves and devolves this way, unequivocally:

when intent and consent, kill lists and ceasefire are subject to the shifting purview and dictates of unnatural law, of written law — of men, of human Earthlings, of supremacist social orders, legal systems, untenable hierarchies, belief systems and nations,

consent and intent become meaningless, revocable,
for everyone, for every body, for every Earthling lacking might, weaponry, military, or empowered pen.

And so,

here, we are.

“Non-human animals, fellow Earthlings, share this sameness with humans:

The desire for
food and water,
shelter and companionship,
freedom of movement,
and avoidance of pain

These desires are shared by non-human animals and human beings.

As for comprehension, like humans, many non-human animals understand the world in which they live and move, otherwise, they could not survive.

So beneath the many differences, there is sameness:

like us, these animals embody the mystery and wonder of consciousness;
like us, they are not only in the world - they are aware of it;
like us, they are the psychological centers of a life that is uniquely their own.”
